Sleepless Because of Seattle

Since Meredith Grey arrived in Seattle to become surgical intern, I became Grey's Anatomy fanatic. I follow every season and every character that come and go. It was always a  good sight of Seattle skyline--Space Needle, Columbia Center the Pike Place Market near Seattle Grace. There had been spin-offs of the show and I remained faithful. During long vacations, I normally start watching @ 3PM and ends 5AM the following day or until the end of the available series or current season.

About a month ago, I finished reading the whole virtual version of Fifty Shades set installed in my iPod.  It was like having Psychotherapy sessions of a person's erratic psychosexual stage with consented pornography.

Both stories happened in Seattle. Grace Trevelyan-Grey is mother to the rich Seattle businessman Christian Grey. On the other hand, Dr. Webber claims that Seattle Grace Mercy West is the best hospital in Seattle and for me, the setting of the best medical drama series ever.

Now Grace, Grace (talking to myself) Seattle made me sleepless. Haha! :P

The Dangers of Being Hungry

Should you be told to eat lunch when you know it's 12PM? The result of skipping lunch, hypoglycemia.

Should you tell a 64-year old brilliant Chief Justice who is fully aware that he is diabetic for 20 years and can probably assume his anxiety tolerance and definitely aware of his health condition to bring first aid medicines and probably bring his own medical staff, again he is the Chief Justice. Why feel anxious if you know you come in clean hands. Probably he knows every "court tricks" because he is the Chief Justice.

The Chief Justice on wheels.  Photo grabbed from Yahoo News.

Now, his lead counsel is telling us that the CJ cannot even stand and is very weak. He was admitted to Medical City two days ago and is suspected of "possible heart attack". Timing is good. Hypoglycemia happened after 4 months of the impeachment trial and the sad part is, it happened "unguarded" because he was brought to the hospital from the Senate.

Money begets power. Sugar is sometimes not sweet.

Admiration Squared

It was nearly forgotten that I was trying to write something about David Beckham. I realized that I have this draft when Beckham was in Manila. Until he is on Yahoo! News today [02.06.12] for being the sexiest man on the planet.

In the case of David Beckham, being sexy doesn't only mean having beautiful face and body and of course a Posh wife. Beckham was not a brilliant student in his school life. But if the famous developmetal psychologist Howard Gardner, in his Theory of Multiple Intelligences is going to describe Beckham, he has bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. For the simple reason that he achieved more in football than his peers.

Reading and watching the colorful life of David Beckham is worth time spending. Being a FIFA fan for quite long, Beckham is a man of substance. Literally and figuratively.

Beckham is UNICEF Ambassador of Goodwill. When he visited Manila last December 2011, he played football with underpriviledged children and exhibition game with the Azkals where he saw Manny Pacquiao in the audience and gave his jersey. I was also admirable for Pacquiao to extend his hand to Beckham. Recognizing admiration to each other.  Two humble wealthy gentlemen!

Being the sexiest also come with great social responsibilities and respect to every race.

To Stay Hungry and Foolish

On the day of his death [10.05.2011], Apple's homepage have had just one display.

I never (and will never) met this man but a month ago (while of course still alive), we were taking about his life in our class discussion in the Graduate School. Time spent was worthy.

Mr. Jobs was born out of wedlock. His biological mother put him up for adoption, lived a modest life and dropped out of college.
A college drop-out, he started his company in a garage, and later he became the most creative and daring CEO. His colleagues described him a a brilliant visionary but an ego-centric bully. We all know that he is one of the wealthiest American.

With being wealthy, he battled pancreatic cancer, died and left so much legacies and changed the world.

If Steve Jobs' life would be a human behavior, it is called bi-polar disorder aka manic-depressive disorder, in which a person's mood go back and forth between periods. Either very good or irritable and then get depressed. In other words, you get too happy or too sad. Extremities.

Steve Jobs I think is one of nature's messenger that no man is perfect. For once in our lives, we make stupid things and we hurt other people. At times, we become assholes, but we can always go up and mend what we bang up. Life, as we choose to live.

Unconditional Christmas

Jovan is a 5-year old Aeta boy from the mountains of Capas,Tarlac. His father seated to my left, told me that they speak Zamal, (Zamal) if my memory doesn't fail me.

I was humbled by this boy because he talked to me in Tagalog. I realized that he knows more what I do not know which made me think that a person may be good in some things, but absolutely not in all things. He respected our language barrier and told many stories about their life in the mountain. He could have run away from me and went to his mother. He made me think of simplicity, being thankful and giving without expecting in return.

I realized that if this little guy had formal education and had an encounter with psychologist Jean Piaget, an advocate of children's education will be delighted. My undergraduate thesis is about level of intelligence among rural high school students which made me admire Piaget for his theories in Psychology of Learning and Cognitive Development

Jovan was very energetic. According to his father he is popular among his playmates. He was very curious and very excited to hold our cameras. The next thing I know he was taking pictures and posing in front of both still and video cameras. He quickly learn instructions, speak confidently and as far as my alter ego is concerned, he has high comprehension skills.

As we know it, Christmas is about giving. But to share some blessings to a boy like Jovan is really something worth remembering and Christmas more meaningful. :)

New Moon

My 13 year old nephew Nate gave this book to me last Sunday [01.15.2012] maybe as a late Christmas gift. I have read 1/3 of the book since I started reading last Monday.

I know it's the 2nd installment of the Twilight series (which is already on the 4th,Breaking Dawn). But I was curious about Stephenie Meyer's writing style. I was not disappointed because Ms. Meyer express her characters like you are actually in the situation, as if you are talking to Bella.  I like her writing. For her age, she is an achiever.

I am no big fan of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen but I have seen the complete Twilight  series in big screen. Ang labo ko! Not really a fan but watched the film completely, and now reading the book. If Sigmund Freud calls me for a psychotherapy session, I will be diagnosed for having defense mechanism of denial. It's the best known defense mechanism which describe situations in which people seem unable to face reality or admit an obvious truth.

Seriously, Jacob Black looks better than Edward.
